LIMAK PHILHARMONIC MARKS 50TH ANNIVERSARY

The Limak Philharmonic Orchestra took the stage at Congresium as part of its 50th Anniversary Concerts. World-renowned tenor Murat Karahan and soprano Angela Gheorghiu joined the orchestra, conducted by Mikhail Agrest. Noting that the concert proceeds were allocated to the “Engineer Girls” project, Limak Holding Chairwoman Ebru Özdemir said, “With the Engineer Girls Project, the number of women at Limak has increased significantly, and women’s participation in the workforce is also likely to rise. It has created strong awareness for everyone. We will continue to support women until the number of women and men is equal,” she said.

The concert was attended by Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdülkadir Uraloğlu, AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik, Limak Holding Honorary Chairs Nihat Özdemir and Sezai Bacaksız, as well as Chairwoman Ebru Özdemir. Under the baton of Mikhail Agrest, the orchestra was joined by Murat Karahan and Angela Gheorghiu as soloists. The program featured selected works of classical music, from opera arias to other pieces.

LACK OF WOMEN LEADERS

Özdemir said the event was the first concert held as part of Limak Holding’s 50th anniversary celebrations. Reiterating that the revenue was allocated to the “Engineer Girls” project, she said the initiative has expanded globally and reached eight countries. Emphasizing that the project has increased the number of female employees both within their holding and across companies in their broader network, Özdemir said, “Women’s participation in the workforce is likely to increase. It has created strong awareness for everyone. We even receive complaints from men saying, ‘Why don’t you do projects that support us?’ And I say, ‘We will continue to support women until the number of women and men is equal.’ Because this is an ecosystem. The problem for all of us is women’s participation in the workforce and the low number of women leaders. I believe we are also leading the way in this area and helping create role models,” she said.
