HANBOK FASHION SHOW ATTRACTS GREAT INTEREST IN ANKARA
The Embassy of Korea and the Korean Cultural Center presented the Korea–Türkiye Bohça Exhibition and the fashion show Hanbok Embroidered in Time. Designer YouSieun introduced nearly 30 creations, modeled by Turkish youth who are passionate followers of the Korean wave. Traditional Hanboks from the Goguryeo and Joseon dynasties appeared alongside modern interpretations, offering audiences a cultural journey through Korean history.
BOHÇA EXHIBITION BRIDGES TWO CULTURES
Before the fashion show, visitors explored the Bogaji (Bohça) Exhibition, which featured works by 23 Korean artists. The exhibition highlighted how Bohça, a traditional wrapping cloth, symbolizes the preservation and protection of valuable items. This cultural display underscored the shared traditions of Korea and Türkiye, despite their geographical distance.
DIPLOMATIC VOICES ON CULTURAL COOPERATION
South Korean Ambassador Jeong Yeondoo and Türkiye’s Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Serdar Çam inaugurated the exhibition together. In his remarks, Çam said:
“This event demonstrates that our friendship and brotherhood with Korea will continue to flourish with stronger cooperation in science, art, culture, and industry.”
Ambassador Jeong expressed his delight in presenting the Bohça exhibition and Hanbok show together, adding, “Bohça is not just a piece of fabric—it embodies wisdom and artistry in daily life, reflecting mutual care, respect, and beauty. In Türkiye, too, Bohça has survived as a traditional way of safeguarding valuables.”
STRENGTHENING KOREA–TÜRKİYE CULTURAL TIES
Ambassador Jeong emphasized that events like these deepen mutual understanding:
“This event plays an important role in fostering respect between our cultures. It will also serve as a strong bridge, further strengthening the friendship and cultural exchange between Türkiye and Korea.”
He noted that the Hanbok collection reflects the Korean people’s aesthetic sensibility, spirit, and centuries-old traditions, further enhancing cultural dialogue between the two nations.
